Ruth True
Native Seattleite Ruth True is a passionate advocate for visual arts and community activism. She is the founder of two companies that blend these pursuits: Nube, Seattle’s mercantile for ecologically-responsible, U.S. made and sourced apparel and home goods; and Nube9, a social purpose company that uses recycled plastic bottles (U.S. manufactured and sourced polyester), into active street wear and athletic uniforms. Two companies with a mission to inspire conversations through the power of art and mindful consuming. Ruth has created a consumer model that supports local artisans and reduces dependency on new materials and overseas manufacturing. Ruth and her husband, Bill True, actively support a wide range of environmental, educational, and arts-related causes, and enjoy time with their five children, first grandchild, and many grand-dogs. Ruth has served a total of eleven years as a Seattle Academy Trustee. She is currently an active participant on the Board of Forterra, a local environmental organization focusing on land conservation and community building.
