Myriam Laroche
Myriam Laroche is the founder and president of Eco Fashion Week (EFW), the world’s largest sustainable fashion event. This Vancouver-based, non-profit organization is set to launch its 11th edition this November 2016 in Seattle, Washington. As part of Vancouver’s Green Action Plan to be the greenest city in the world by 2020, Eco Fashion Week presents runway shows, panel discussions, and showrooms that address the ethics of the fashion industry while proposing tangible steps towards closing the loop.
After 15 years in the Fashion industry at various capacities, Myriam Laroche changed her path to find ways in which to develop a less wasteful, and more responsible fashion industry in all aspects including design, manufacturing, distribution and consumption. She has since 2009 brought to life, ten seasons of Eco Fashion Week as well as provided mentorship for the Forum For Women Entrepreneurs (FWE) and for Simon Fraser University’s Beedie School of Business in Circular Economy. Myriam continues to find ways in which we can improve the fashion industry, and currently works with Value Village/Savers work on the solutions to create a healthier Apparel & Textile Industry.
