Ken Alterman

ken_alterman_050As President and CEO of Savers, a purpose-driven global thrift retailer, Ken has overseen and developed strategic business initiatives that grew the organization from a $300 million a year company to more than $1 billion a year in gross revenue. Since joining the company in 2002, Ken has helped build a network of retail stores that offers its customers great value and selection in addition to a smart and more environmentally friendly way to shop. Ken has increased Savers’ footprint to nearly 330 stores and 22,000 team members across the U.S., Canada, and Australia, and did so by embracing the Savers model which is built on a commitment to reuse and local communities. Savers was in the reuse business long before sustainability was at the forefront of business practices, diverting hundreds of millions of pounds of materials from North American landfills each year. Savers’ impact extends beyond diverting waste through its 60-year history of partnership with community-based nonprofit organizations, which receive regular payments in exchange for supplying Savers’ stores with community-donated goods. Over the last decade alone, Savers has provided its partners with more than $1 billion in consistent funding in support of their missions. Prior to joining Savers, Ken built his 20 year career at PepsiCo and Procter & Gamble. Ken currently serves on the boards of Grocery Outlet and Savers.
