As Vice President of Global Sustainability, Esther Speck leads lululemon’s sustainable business and impact objectives, further integrating practices across lululemon and its supply chain. Ms. Speck’s career spans 12 years in sustainability, business innovation, and systems change. She brings industry experience, joining lululemon after consulting to leading outdoor athletic brands and organizations on strategy and integration. Prior to consulting, Ms. Speck was head of sustainability on the leadership team at Mountain Equipment Cooperative (MEC), Canada’s active lifestyle retail cooperative. She led their next phase of supply chain and retail impact through industry collaboration, and brand defining strategies on activity, conservation and advocacy. With a philosophy of leadership through influence, MEC ranked #1 in Corporate Knights Best 50 Corporate Citizens and won a White House “Champions of Change” Award during Speck’s tenure. Previous to MEC, Ms. Speck was tapped for the development and implementation of Whistler2020, Whistler’s vision and strategy leading up to the Winter2010 Olympics.
Ms. Speck holds an MBA and Masters of Resource and Environmental Management from Simon Fraser University, is a sessional professor, and a frequent speaker on the subjects of sustainability related innovation, governance and supply chain.
